Full Description
During road widening of the Foss Way and rescue dig in 1951 contractors with earth moving equipment discovered a short stretch of Ro road at above grid ref, running in a W direction. Remains consisted of an 8ft wide spread of large boulder stones, similar to remains of the Foss Way found nearby. No road surface was found (and no mention is made of ditches. It could logically be the start of RR182 running towards the Trent near Sawley, but no identification trace of such a road can be seen on the available APs). (1)
A length of road similar to that already described (see L9227), but 8ft wide was observed, aligned E-W. (2)
See M371 for E Med cemetery and M372 for Ro town - this site is just outside the SAM.
See M6000 for Fosse Way.
