Full Description

In the churchyard are the remains of 2 stone crosses. The first ... 3.5m SW of the SW buttress of the church tower comprises a socket stone 0.7m square and 0.4m high with a socket hole 0.4m square. The corners of the stone are chamfered with broach stops; it is very badly weathered. According to information given by Mr F Wells, a local inhabitant, it is known as "The Devil Stone" and formerly stood beside the main road at SK 59008411. It was removed to its present location by the Rev Williams, a former incumbent, c 25 years ago. Its former position suggests that it was a wayside cross. (1)
See M4775 for church, M5510 for second cross.
