Full Description

Rufford Deer Park presumably was originally a monastic park. (1)

The park is 400 acres in area, with an oak paling and 300-350 head of fallow deer. (2)

Delineated on (3) and (4), a deer barn is shown at SK 6468 6333 on (4)(5).

The alteration of the deer park to agirculutral land is something which was carried out after the Second World War. (5)

The Deer Park has been heavily ploughed during the modern period and given the extent of agricultural activity that has been undertaken within this area it is likely that the cropmarks relating to any features or a deer barn will have been heavily disturbed. (5)
