Full Description

The deer park at Thoresby is said to be 13 miles in circumference with 1000 head of deer. (1)
Indications of a possible park pale at SK 626712. (2)
The head forester of Thoresby estate says that to his knowledge there has never been a pale or leap on the estate; he mentioned a minor stretch of timber deer fence as being extant but this is only some 80 years old. There is still a large deer herd in the park but this is free roving and free breeding. The AP marking of (2) has now been destroyed by a market garden and plantation. (3)
See MNT26682 for Thoresby Park.
