Full Description

Riding a very little beyond Scroby Manor Palace I passed by a forde over the Ryver: and so betwixt the Pales of 2 Parkes longin to Scroby I came to Bautre. (1)
By the beginning of the C18 the extensive park of Scrooby was converted into a farm. Scrooby was mentioned on 11/07/1270, when a payment is made to 2 valets of the Earl of Warwick for bringing deer. This was probably connected with restocking the park. (2)
The area N of the ford at Scrooby, to Bawtry, is mainly agricultural. No trace of a park pale was noted during a perambulation. (3)
