Full Description

Harworth School was endowed by Robert Brailsford, 1700, and by Mary Sanderson, died 1724. The schoolhouse was built in 1705, and enlarged 1876. The boys were taught in the school, and the girls in a room of the adjoining master's house. The Harworth Church School receives the endowment. (1)
The schoolhouse is a 2 storeyed, brick built structure. It is in a fair state of repair, but is no longer used as the headmaster's residence. The remainder of the school is of one storey, and brick built. Renovations to the 1876 extension include the cement facing of the exterior. A plaque over the original entrance (now within the building) commemmorates Robert Brailsford, the founder. (3)
