Full Description

Line of pre-Ro ridgeway. "The Old Foss" (or "Fosse"). (1) (2)
A road named the Upper Fosse Way ran from East Bridgford to Stoke in ancient times, and some early maps show it as disused. It was probably incorporated in the land through which it passed; traces of it can still be seen in certain fields. (3)
"Upper Foss Way" shown - SK 6991 4330 to SK 7554 4988 where it meets the Fosse Way. (4)
Road line shown, but section through Flintham and Syerston has gone. (5)
No recorded information on this ridgeway (part of Humber Lane) and no physical evidence for antiquity classification. The "Old Foss" ran to the E of this line (see RR5f). (6)
Hollow way at E end of Humber Lane. (7)
Grid ref for NE end, at East Stoke.
See M6000 for Fosse Way.
