Full Description

The ford at Averham (above grid ref) was staked by the Parliamentarian forces in the Civil War. (1)
The Trent water level is particularly low at the moment and several "gravel islands" are to be seen. However no natural ford as such is evident although the river is easily fordable at any point within 500m of this position, no road or passage is evident on either bank. (2)
See M5672 for redoubt, L3092 for "wall" downstream.
