Full Description

A cobbled road running WNW-ESE and lying 6-12in below the present footpath, was traced for about a mile between Shirebrook and Sookholme, beside a small stream on low ground. The road is 25ft wide, and is in places cut by the stream. It consists of a single layer of gravel below cobbles of fist size. There are some sandstone blocks to be seen, but these may be no more than patching. (1)
