Full Description

A dry, disused well was discovered during the laying of new drains at the former Wheatsheaf Inn. 6.71m deep by 0.97-1.37m wide, the top 2.95m were of brick, the rock-cut section showing fine tooling marks near the bottom. Loose fill in the bottom of the shaft revealed C18 and C19 pottery and glass. (1)
