A stone-faced house with a gabled façade was built c 1580 . A new house was built in 1729, and added to after 1768. The house was further altered from 1785 by William Lindley and Sir John Soane. Ossington Hall was a large plain house of 2 storeys with pedimented dormers in the hipped roof. The main garden front was 9 bays long and there were single storey late Georgian wings at both ends. The entrance on the N side was from a courtyard enclosed on 3 sides by the main part of the house on the S, a wing of 1700 on the W and a blind arcade on the E. The house stood empty from 1959 until 1963, when it was demolished. (3)
