Full Description

WW2 airfield at Wigsley. Various structures surviving (SK 856 693). (1)
Structures include control tower - first floor walkway was for observing air traffic, and signalling using flares (radio could be intercepted by enemy planes). Small buildings with blast walls are "ready stores", for ammunition needed that day. Sunken buildings are ammunition stores. Cylindrical concrete structure is an air raid shelter, without its earth covering. (2)
