Full Description
Watermill shown on (1).
Not visible on (2).
Bridge Gate. These were two mills on the west bank of the river near the bridge over it. They were called at some stage Corporation Mills. One mill at times was a paper mill. In 1856 George Cross converted the paper mill to corn milling. In 1860 it was dismantled, at which time the other corn mill had 5 pairs of stones. (3)
Some remains of structure which lay over the River Idle, brick vaulting and some stone work. Remains of wheel pit can be made out, as can the sluice gate guide. (4)
See M17943 for bridge, M18352 for possible medieval mill pond, L11802 and 3 for piles which may be associated.
