Full Description

An inventory of Warsop Hall dated to about 1700 includes … a dovecote. References to the dovecote exist from the C13. Unfortunately the surviving dovecote, probably of Tudor date, was demolished in 1962. It had stood in the grass verge of Bishops Walk to the NW of the church (above GR based on this description). It was built of limestone and was nearlty square, being 24ft by 22ft, with walls 2ft 9in thick rising 8ft to the roof. Within the walls were 650 nesting places. Following its demolition, tons of stone were supposedly used as hardcore for a driveway to a new house and also for the rebuilding of a wall. (1)
