Full Description

Russian Log Cottage, situated on Clipstone Drive to the NW of "Black Pool" (part of Thoresby Park). (1)

A replica Russian log cabin or 'dacha' was erected at the Great Exhition of 1851 and moved to this location when the exhibition was dismantled, to serve as a hunting lodge or bird hide overlooking Black Pool. The cabin is known to have existed during the Second World War, but the precise date of its loss is uncertain. Historic Ordnance Survey maps show the building. (2)
