Full Description

In 1578, Memott's Mill was described as standing on the River Maun, in the corner of a field called Tenterfield, on common land. An earlier mill called Page's Mill had stood in a close called Chamber's Close; this was "a stone's cast" away from the present mill. It was about 1000ft below Nottingham ford and about 300 yards above Mansfield Mills (M4010). The mill was burnt down around 1600. It would appear to have been at Littleworth, on or near the site of the later foundry (M4047). (1)
