1086 Domesday survey, 2 mills 40/-. There were possibly also two walk mills. At various times it has been a flax and worsted spinning mill, a candlewick manufactory and a corn mill. It seems to have been a spinning mill from 1784 to 1805, in 1789 also having a pair of stones. It was possibly a candlewick mill in 1797. It was a corn mill from 1820, a paper mill from 1836-1840 and in 1850 it had 3 pairs of French stones, one pair of grey stones, a flour machine and was being dismantled. In 1872 the site is marked on maps as Mill Farm. (2)
