Full Description

Parliamentarian redoubt, on the second line of circumvallation, W of the Devon, is now marked solely by a hedge which preserves the line of the W face of a small diamond shaped redoubt at the point where the circumvallation crossed the Fosse Way. (1)
The hedge is extant but there are no surface remains of the redoubt. The area is under rough pasture. The site would command the main line of march Newark-Nottm. Siting centralised to above grid ref. (2)
