Full Description

Ro finds made during excavation of chapel site, 1974, mostly outside the foundation wall trench at the SE corner. Scatter of broken pottery and stone (inc pot boilers), possibly a courtyard. Also a bronze brooch, mid C2, and a fragment of an ear pick. The excavators suggest a Ro settlement in this area, perhaps under the farm buildings. (1)
S limit of this area of rubbish found in 1975. 3 sherds of Derbys ware were found under the floor of the cistern on the bedrock. No trace of a Ro building was found. (2)
See M3999 - chapel, L8567 - BA pottery, L8568 - cropmark.
