Full Description

Excavations at Slaughterhouse Lane in 1984 and 1988. Sites NSL 01, 02 and 04. Preliminary conclusions; Stone lined ? malt kiln and rectilinear building of Med date. Large part of site levelled in Med period. (1)
In the Med period the rampart (L5683) was perhaps replaced by a stone wall, while cut into it and the soil deposits behind were a malting/drying kiln, a rectangular building with stone footings, and other structures. (2)
