Full Description
A stone, on the outskirts of East Stoke inscribed "here stood the Burrand Bush planted on the spot where Henry VII placed his standard after the Battle of Stoke (16/06/1487)". (1)
Stone located at above grid ref. (2)
The inscribed slab illustrated by (3) appears to be early C20 in date. Brooke (4) doesn't mention the Burrand Bush, though he had visited the site. It seems likely that this stone was erected relatively recently, and placed in the line of the hedgerow, rather than on the high point where the standard was placed, in order to be out of the way. See M1433 for battlefield.
