Full Description

Roger de Buron bestowed the town of Ossington on the Knights Hospitallers. The church of Ossington with its appurtenances was granted to them by Archbishop William (1143-54). In 1338 there was a capital messuage and garden, two dovecotes and two windmills as well as land and other rights. There were 2 knights, one being preceptor, with a chaplain and other officials. Ossington had become merged in the Newland preceptory by 1534. (1)
