Full Description

A complex of earthworks lie to the N of Wigthorpe Farm. The earthworks comprise both E-W and N-S aligned ridge and furrow, an E-W boundary bank dividing 2 areas of ridge and furrow, a number of substantial mounds in the SE part of the field and a series of smaller mounds in the SW corner of the field. The line of a track may run through the SE corner, aligned from the Hall to the farm. A N-S aligned lynchet lies at the W end of a garden opposite Wigthorpe Farm. A large E-W bank and a circular hollow, perhaps marking an infilled well or shaft, lie in a pasture field SW of Wigthorpe House. (1)
