House. Late C17. Extended and raised late C18. (1)
Timber sampling by R Howard (n.d.): Core samples from 7 different oak timbers in two elements of Brookside Cottage were analysed giving dates for two of these timbers. A sample from a wall plate in the western portion of the building was dated to the years spanning 1546-1606 with an estimated felling date in the range 1621 - 46. A wall post in the eastern portion of the building dated to 1548-1626, with a felling date of 1626. (2)
