Full Description

Farmhouse. C17. Refronted and extended mid C18. (1)
The farmhouse at Ivy House Farm is probably the only building shown on Mark Pierce’s map of 1635 that is recognisably the same today. Its short stone gabled section is unique to Laxton, and with its plinth looks suggestively late medieval in character. The building also has stone footings exposed at the east end of the main range. The roof space reveals that the main part of the farmhouse is of one build, with roof trusses marked with carpenters’ marks… The building was later extended. Several features and the layout points to a largely C17 building. (2)
