The birthplace of … the Midland Counties Railway at the Sun Inn. (1)
Built in the early 1750's ... The earliest records indicate that John and Hannah Godber ran the Inn in 1757 … At least two meetings were held by local coal mine owners at the Inn to discuss the formation of a railway. (2)
