Full Description

Originally built about 1700, then known as the Pelican. It changed its name … during the nineteenth century. (1)
The two eastern bays are the house of c.1700 with a central ridge stack. (2)
Alehouse Recognizances 1823 under John Outram [Nottinghamshire County Archives
C/QD/LV/4/3/YYY]. (3)
Derives from "The Lord Nelson, Railway Hotel", which dates to a time when the pub was between the stations of two competing railway companies (www.nelsonandrailway.co.uk). Both station buildings may still be seen and the area is of great interest to enthusiasts of both rail and Victorian history. (3)
