Full Description

House. C17 timber frame. (1)
c.1600. (2)
'The house has phases of timber framing that both pre-date and post-date the principal 17th century phase, the ground floor of the east bay being earlier than the principal phase, and the roof carpentry being later. The appearance of the front elevation has been significantly changed during the 20th century by changes to windows and doors, and in particular by the addition of extra windows including the raking dormers. The dormers were in place at the time of listing, and were probably inserted when the house was re-unified from two cottages by a planning approval of 1965. It appears, from the 1949 photographs and from evidence of a panel in the east gable apex still visible in the roofspace, that some or all of the panel infills of the 17th century box frame were of large rounded pebbles, held into the framing by timber pegs.'
