Full Description
Large mid-C18 farmhouse. (1)
"Manor Farm. Large early 18th century farmhouse, typical of the county". ("Buildings of England - Notts. 1951, p. 89, N. Pevsner) OS name confirmed. There is no evidence of an earlier house than 1739 and the name is derived from it being the farm to Kingston Hall. (Oral: Mrs. A. C. Thompson, Manager for Nottingham University, Manor Farm.) Manor Farm is a large brick farmhouse of two storeys and an attic. A rain water head at the west end of the house is dated 1739. The appearance of the house is consistent with this dating; no evidence of an earlier house was seen (Field investigator comments, F1 WW 12-JAN-60). Manor Farmhouse. Mid C18th. Now 2 houses. Grade II (full account in Listed Buildings volume) (DOE (Listed Buildings), Dist of Rushcliffe, Notts, 12-10-87, 33) Additional reference (Pevsner N and Williamson E, 1979, The Buildings of England: Notts (156), London: Penguin) (3)
