Full Description
The W tower … is C13. Plain broach spire of the early C14. C14 arcades with octagonal piers. C15 roofs in nave and chancel. The chancel windows are E.E. Font: C14, with cover of 1660. Monuments … to members of the Sacheverell family. (1)
The tower dates from about 1200. (2)
Early English chancel [and] W tower with spire. The nave and S aisle are of the later Decorated period (1350-70). (3)
The genesis of any portion of the building … would be very early in the 13th century. [At] the end of the 13th century … the chancel was enlarged. The height has been raised in modern days when the present low-pitch roof [was erected]. A change in ownership was made … in 1381. The nave and aisles were remodelled. In modern times the north arcade and the aisle has been rebuilt again. (4)
Parish church. 13th-15th and 18th century, restored 1891. Ashlar, dressed coursed rubble, some red brick. Lead and slate roofs. Parapets to nave, chancel and north aisle. Coped gables, single ridge cross to east chancel. Buttressed, apart from the tower. Tower with spire, nave, aisles, south porch, north chapel and chancel. Holy Trinity Church. Of the church mentioned in Domesday 'not a single worked stone can now be identified. The genesis of any portion of the building.. would be very early in the 13th century'. The advowson was granted to the Augustinian House, Norton, Cheshire before 1211. The fabric of the church indicates the earliest building as mid 13th century and additions or reconstructions during the 14th and 15th centuries.
