Full Description

In 1879-80 after a fire the central part of the house was rebuilt, again in an Italianate style, by the younger Charles Barry. It was pulled down completely c.1938. One tiny fragment of Barry's work remains: the Duke's Study, which was set back from the main house on the E side and joined to it by low wings forming a partly enclosed garden. Its only architectural feature is a bay window framed by plain pilasters. (1)
