Full Description

Tradition has it that during the plague of 1665 the Broad Stone was used as a boundary marker. People put money in it for food left nearby, to avoid infection. Plinth … inscription [reads] 'Restored to the borough of East Retford by J. A. Gylby Esq. AD 1877'. (1)
