An early C19 labourer’s cottage. Later in the 1800s it was converted to a shop, and buy c.1904 was also the village Post Office. In the mid C20 it was restored to a dwelling. Yew Tree Cottage has been in existence since at least 1840. A two-storey detached house of early C19 appearance in 21/2-inch brick with asymmetric roof, gable end to the street, and single-storey outshot to the rear. The east side and outshot are rendered and all sides but the south white-painted. The shop door facing the street was probably inserted in the C19. It was resealed with breeze blocks in the mid C20, but the outline of the surmounting Post Office sign with curving top is still visible.
