In an Arts and Crafts style. Triangular in plan. Roughcast; tiled roof. All windows leaded lights, those on the ground floor stamped out of the wall surface, those on the 1st floor with wooden subframes and mullions. North-east (entrance) façade dominated by a central jettied gable overhanging the front door with its splayed flanking walls. South-west (garden) façade with a canted bay window either side of the central door. A single tiled roof runs above windows and door almost the full width of the house to create a porch for the door and an apron for the 1st floor windows, a band of 16 leaded lights at eaves level. Interior: Lobby leads to the foot of the staircase which rises through the open wall and the 2-storeyed hall to galleried landings. In it a fitted settle and a fireplace of limestone with a broad segmental arch whose enormous floriated keystone is carried up against the concave-sided flue behind. Dining recess with, on one side folding double doors into the former school room and, on the other, sliding double doors into the main living room. Both sets of doors are original and retain their 6 small leaded lights, with stylized flower designs; the sliding doors have frankly exposed wrought-iron hangers and tracks. In the living room an inglenook fireplace with curved brass hood. In the former school room a fireplace with copper hood and recessed ash box. In the former kitchen the original pine glass and china cupboards. On the 1st floor one of the bedrooms has a projecting oriel window with leaded glazing which looks down into the hall below and across to the galleried staircase landings. Wrought-iron latches, locks and hinges, stained glass and carving all probably by Cecil Hignett. The house stands in grounds following designs prepared by the architects. (2)
