Full Description

Large (up to c 100m diameter) circular or subrectangular feature defined by 2 ditches. There are indications that the ditches may not be continuous and there may be further lines of ditch, palisade etc within. Also indications of buildings (rectangular) within the area defined by the ditches. Pickering thinks either a henge or possibly a geological feature. Perhaps a henge or an enormous burial mound - but also an enclosed defended settlement of IA/Ro date or even Med "ringwork" is possible. (1)
Fieldwalked 19/02/1983. Farmer has long noticed a lot of stone in this part of field - has always been difficult to plough. (2)
See L 8278 for finds. See plot on TPAT card. Grid ref centred.
