Full Description

Aisled hall house. Early C17. Clad in brick and altered late C18 and C19. Attached to the west side, an early C19 cottage, rebuilt c.1975. (1)
Tree-ring analysis of 6 roof timbers from No.40 Westhorpe produced a felling date of AD 1514-1527 and it is likely that the house was built in the first half of the C16. There is the possibility that these dated timbers represent a re-roofing of the house at that time. (2)
