Full Description
This two-storey red brick house has a clay pantile roof. Double pile, the roadside range was originally three bays and was extended to the west by one bay. The two chimney stacks were the gable-end stacks of the original house. Like the other cottages that front onto Southwell Road it has Flemish Bond brickwork and decorative cogged eaves to the original three bays. Casement windows of replacement uPVC. Windows have elliptical headers at ground floor level. Two large stone lintels survive in the gable end of the additional bay. The owner shared that they used to be a shop door and display window for the farm shop. The property was formerly a farm and plant-nursery. A 20th century porch has a timber front door inside. There is a decorative string course of three courses of bricks across the front of the building which was also added to the new bay unlike the cogged eaves which only appear on the original range. The brick boundary wall c.120cm high is topped with triangular shaped bricks. (1)
