Full Description

This two-storey Flemish-bond brick house was built c.1790. Originally the roof was clay pantiles, which survives on the rear, but the front pantiles were replaced with slate following a storm. The west gable is now painted white. The timber replacement multi-pane sash windows are six-over-six. The ground floor windows are under flat segmented brick arches with rubbed bricks. All the windows including the central blank window over the door have stone cills. The door is part-glazed and panelled with a flat canopy. This former farmhouse has a large L-shaped range of outbuildings. It was a relatively high-status building with its Flemish bond brickwork, rubbed-brick headers and substantial range of agricultural outbuildings. It retains its historic boundary wall between the drive and the front garden, with rounded brick coping with coping stones at the corners. The roadside wall is a later replacement. (1)
