Full Description

Workhouse, 1842 - red brick masonry, some black in places. Roof made of black slate. Building in good condition, and at one side there has been some modification, with recementing in places. Windows are fairly small, 2.5ft x 3.5ft, and well framed with semi-circular layers of bricks above them. Doors are made of wood. There are 3 chimneys, 2 on the apex of the roof and one on the side. At the back of the workhouse attached to it are a series of small sheds, in same style as the main building ... There is guttering on the roof and also drainage pipes running down the sides of the building. Size of workhouse 81ft x 36ft x 60ft (11/07/1968). (1)
