Full Description

AP shows cropmarks in field N of Fernhill House, apparently half a ring ditch, also further NW is a field containing trig point 59 (at SK 692463). Large distinct ring ditch (possible other one to SE). 6945/8 shows it linked to a largish enclosure running to S. Vertical photos show a very straight line running SW - NE through this field. (1) (2)
Both the ring ditches are now under plough; at neither site are there surface indications of the original features, and no finds were made in the topsoil. The field holding the enclosures is high grass, again no sign or finds. No info from farmer. The ring ditches probably indicate burials. (3)
30.11.1: Bronze Age Barrow, 30.14.1 (4)
See L 1781 for nearby pit alignment, L 1782 for linear feature.
