Full Description

Named 'Wood Hall'. (1)
Named 'Bulwell Wood Hall'. (2)
A former home of the Byron family. Bulwell Wood [was] granted ... to the Byron family, 28 May, 1540. A stone in the cellar [is] dated September, 1584. Rebuilt in the reign of Charles I by the Hon. Wm. Byron, eldest son of the second Lord Byron. Six rooms … destroyed by fire 150 years ago [c.1760]. Now occupied as a farm house. (3)
The Byrons … built it as a Dower House. A recent fire has left it a roofless shell. (4)
After being unoccupied and vandalised for many years the house was gutted by fire on 6th May 1937…. The house was never repaired and it was finally demolished in 1953. (5)
