Full Description

Church Street. Here (next to the Pantiles), a small gabled late C17 or early C18 house, the windows altered, but still with the low shape and hoodmoulds. One mullioned window visible in an earlier wing at the back. (1)
Church Street. Old houses still remaining [include] the restored Cotswold-type house of Dr. D. W. Conway, formerly the farmhouse of the Straw family. (2)
Site visit 5.6.2003. Stylistically, both (1) and (2) are clearly talking about the Pantiles. Strawcroft (the house next to the Pantiles) is dated 1850 above the porch - but the name is still suggestive of the house of the Straw family. (3)
Locally Listed by Ashfield District Council (ADC Ref: 412) (4).
