Full Description
1967-78, mostly by the County Architect, H. T. Swain, except part of the middle school (by Goodwin, Warner & Associates). The first and middle schools very neat CLASP buildings … brown tilehung. The nursery school (1976) is a playful adaptation of an existing building into a tiled pyramid on low brick walls. (1)
Flat roofed, single storey, staggered height buildings, variations of ‘L’ shaped buildings, 2 connected to form a further ‘L’ variation but 1no.positioned backwards the other upside down, a further building is situated to the west. Buildings have vertical tile hung panels intersperse with window ranges with vertical hung tile and painted panelled stall risers and deep concrete panelled cornices. Windows are tall and either double fixed or vertical divided casements both with over lights. Other buildings have horizontal timber plank substituted for the vertical tile hung elements but the rest of the details correspond to other sections of the school. (2)
