Extended to rear by Naylor & Sale of Derby in 1891. The same architects added cloakrooms to the front of the building in 1894. See (2) and (3).
A charity school built in 1862, to the design of Thomas Chambers Hine and Robert Evans. Much extended front and rear in 1891-94 by Naylor and Sale of Derby. Even the extensions are largely obscured by modern additions. Most C19 windows survive (2004) ; a couple of openings have been mutilated and one has been blocked. The school is mentioned in Pevsner (p.125). Hine and Evans went on to build a number of school that are now listed. (NCC School Survey 2004)(4)
