Full Description
The C18 Decoy House. (1)
The site consists of the Decoy house and 5 outbuildings.
Tithe map of 1848 features Decoy House, which shows a farmhouse and a carthouse outbuilding attached to its west elevation. P. 4 (2)
1885 map shows that cart shed is no longer present, though there is a new 2 storey outbuilding to the west and a new boundary wall to the south (where the former 1848 cart shed had stood) which connects the outbuilding to Decoy House. The two storey outbuilding was built as a 1 storey building, and then at some undetermined point later it was converted to 2 storeys. It appeared to have functioned as stables, and then had a loft added for hay storage. P. 4 (2)
Three new structures appear for the first time on the 1899 map. It shows a new outbuilding built between the 2 storey 1885 stable and the Decoy House, to which it is bonded. This outbuilding functioned as a barn. An 'L'-shaped outbuilding appears on the map and is bonded to the west elevation of the two storey stable. In addition, a new north boundary wall was constructed. P. 4 (2)
Two more buildings were added to the property some time after 1960. There is a modern lean-to bonded to the west elevation of the L-shaped from 1899. In additon, there is a detached single storey aisled outbuilding to the northwest. P. 4 (2)
