Full Description

Wesleyan. Built 1823. Three-bay front with round-arched windows. (1)

Built in 1823 to accommodate meetings that had been taking place in local houses. A site measuring 10 x 5 yards was bought from a labourer called Thomas Pickering for £2. The community raised £140 for the erection of the chapel building on the site and it was opened in 1824 for the 22 members which grew to 35 members by 1928. In 1955 an adjacent parcel of land was purchased next to the chael “on the right hand side”. In the 1950s a pitched roof porch was added to the east elevation with a flat roof toilet. (2)
