Full Description
Sydney Street Malting. This was a big malting, built around 1880, close to the Great Northern Railway but well away from the river. Its situation suggests it was built for inter-county trade rather than to serve the town's own breweries. The building was demolished to make way for a car park. (1)
Complex now consists only of the lower part of boundary walls of the W malthouse, the E one has been built over. Water tower and kiln still surviving in new use. See NIAR 9126401/01,3,4 (2 does not exist) for further information on this site. (2)
See M3614, M18092, M18093 and M18094 for individual buildings.
See M3673 for possible associated building.
