Full Description

The remains of an RAF Stirling Bomber which disappeared on a training flight over Lincolnshire in 1944 have been found buried 20ft under marl on the banks of the River Trent at West Burton near Retford. Workmen excavating a 12ft deep trench at West Burton power station on Monday 16th September 1963 unearthed parts of an English wartime plane. The site is an isolated one about a mile from the power station site (1)
