Full Description

Stone building, now rendered, in part (front) dating to late C18 (maps). Original function probably inked to the Erewash which has its head nearby. Wharf present in 1830's (1). Photo evidence (held by Kirkby and District Conservation Soc.) of 1892 may indicate a small brewery and maltings (malt shovel held by one person in picture). Also shows original window arangement (Yorkshire sliding sashes) and stone walls. Early course of the Mansfield - Pinxton Railway ran close by until the early C20 (2).
