Full Description

Bramcote Hall. (1)
Built pre-1832 on a slight eminence on the south side of the village. Circa 1850 … Frederick Chatfield Smith … greatly altered and enlarged the house. It was built of red brick with stone facings and had a small conservatory at one end of the drawing room. The surrounding hundred acre park contained some fine examples of oak, elm, chestnut and Scots pine. In the early 1920s the Hall was … converted into a preparatory school. In 1965 Nottingham University acquired the Hall and grounds … after a disasterous fire, the house fell into disrepair and was eventually demolished. Remnants of the garden terraces still survive.
